About Jokko Hub

"Jokko" means connection in Wolof. We chose it because the digital gap is, at its heart, a gap in connection — to tools, to skills, to opportunity, and to the confidence that you belong in the digital world.

Jokko Hub was created to address both sides of this challenge — supporting individuals to build digital confidence while helping organisations strengthen the systems, skills and resources needed to provide more digitally inclusive services.

Digital inclusion starts with trust.

Digital exclusion is often treated as an individual skills problem. We see a bigger picture.

A person may struggle with a digital service because of limited digital confidence; unfamiliarity with the system; language or literacy; affordability; lack of appropriate devices; accessibility barriers; concerns about privacy or security; previous negative experiences; lack of trusted support; or poorly designed digital services.

That means improving digital inclusion requires more than teaching people how to use technology. It also requires organisations to think differently about how digital services are designed, explained and supported.

Our Mission

Bridge gaps through learning and capacity building.

We deliver culturally responsive training, practical resources, research and organizational support for individuals, communities and frontline professionals.

Our Vision

A Canada where everyone can participate digitally.

Everyone should have the access, skills, confidence and support needed to use digital services safely and benefit from digital opportunities.

Our Values

How we work:
Dignity
People should be able to learn without embarrassment, judgement or shame.

Inclusion
Learning and services should reflect different languages, abilities, cultures and experiences.

Trust
Digital confidence grows through relationships, transparency and community-based support.

Practicality
Learning should help people solve real problems and complete real tasks.

Safety
Privacy, informed consent and online safety are integrated throughout our work.

Empowerment
We build independence rather than creating long-term reliance on others.

What makes us different

We understand both sides of the digital gap

Jokko Hub recognises the realities faced by community members and the pressures experienced by the professionals supporting them.

  • Community-centred rather than technology-led.

  • Culturally responsive and trauma-informed.

  • Plain language and hands-on learning.

  • Research-informed but practical.

  • Focused on confidence, safety and independence.
